My Story

My experience is diverse. Through all my roles, I've realized that success hinges on the ability to invest in both the things and the people that most influence your life.

Since my teen years, I've held roles in leadership as Arizona's Junior Miss of 1997, captain of sports teams, currently as manager and owner of multiple businesses and through many other church and community leadership roles. My most substantial qualifier, however, may be motherhood.

I am passionate about potential. I shine the light on that potential by focusing on the principles that take a person from the bench to the starting lineup.

As the only daughter of a prominent player for the National Football League, Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Danny White, the affiliation with "America's Team" left me well-schooled in presentation and composure under scrutiny. I also learned to hold my own with three brothers who did their best to rough my edges. Read about it in our book!

I’ve been doing a thing. I’ve been coaching at the jail. Haven’t been too forthcoming about it because I wasn’t sure how I’d feel. The jury is in.

I. Love. It.

With limited resources, there’s little room for distraction and all the space for clarity.

They know what they value. They know what it’s like to miss the mark. They’re focused, sincere, non-judgmental, and ready to act.

Who knew concrete cell walls could be a birthplace For Starters? Not me. Until now.

Is there room for improvement even at your peak?

Here were three questions top-tier teams identified to maintain the top of their game:

At the Build the Bless Conference last week I heard this phrase from gymnast Ana Padurariu and it stuck with me.

Do you find your mood subject to your circumstances? I’ve always thought this was a sign of low EQ but I see where she’s going here. If “identity is the bedrock of your impact” (Principle 2 For Starters) then identity should be the foundation of your joy.

I’m mulling this over and would love your insights!

Thrive 2026 Conference was everything I wanted it to be! Not only did I spend quality time with impactful leaders, I gained insights as a speaker, established challenges for myself, grew my business, and fell in love with a new city!

Kelly even got to join me for a few days as we:

Deep thoughts on trauma—😬

Everyone experiences it and yet everyone responds to it differently. The two extremes people take are:

1️⃣ over-acknowledging
2️⃣ under-acknowledging

Both extremes are terribly unproductive.

I thought it would be easier today cuz somebody’s gotta make dinner and keep the laundry going.

But guys…pretty sure I need Adderall.

The good news? Sourdough is rising nicely.
The bad? I don’t remember what I was organizing.

A defining characteristic of Starters is humility. They make an impact because the impact is where their focus is. It’s not on themselves.

This means they know when to shut up 🤐

Many difference-makers are high performers and they are aware of it. But often leaders talk too dang much, and don’t realize when the time isn’t theirs.

Not Starters. Starters see the room, the objectives, the team. They see where people stand, and when the time belongs to someone else, they step aside. It’s not all about them.

Be a Starter!!

Last week I made the fatal mistake of telling a couple people I never get sick.

Day three of denial, I finally admit this one got me. Thanks to endless amounts of tea and tissues I had a busy and productive day yesterday. Today has a similar lineup. Tomorrow I am a finalist in a storytelling competition. Ain’t nobody got time for this!

I’m sufficiently humbled—turns out this girl can get sick, I admit it. Prayers welcome 🫠

Dear Verizon, what’s my time worth?

We’ve all been here right? I was thrilled when I received the assurance of a solution within only a couple minutes of hitting send.

“Ma’am? I ran into a slight issue…please hold, I’ll be right back.”

A few minutes pass.

“Hi this is _____(new rep), how may I assist you?”

Repeat this not twice, but three times.

After 30 minutes and 3 sudoku puzzles, I decided to take control of my time. I wasn’t about to let them determine my productivity for the duration of the call.

Phone on speaker, volume lowered, I got back to my list of tasks while I waited.

Every day I create a new list of tasks, with varying levels of mindfulness so that in moments like this where it seems I’m held hostage, I’m still capable of being productive.

In this 1:43:53 I accomplished:
-Invoices sent
-Email inquiries responded to
-Engagement on LinkedIn
-Agenda planned for my next team diagnostic debrief
-Snacks
-2 loads of laundry started
-3 sudoku puzzles solved (easy, medium and hard! 🤓)

Could I have been more productive? No doubt.

Could I have been less productive and blamed Verizon for time lost? Easily.

There is precious little in this world we actually do have control over and too often we give it away. Impact is only achieved through action. [Principle No.4 For Starters]

Don’t let unexpected setbacks set you back.

Guess I’m a Warriors fan now 🤷🏻‍♀️

Last week I took the world’s biggest Steph Curry fan to see him in person and San Fransisco did not disappoint! We took in the bridge, Pier 49, Ghirardelli Square, and zipped through Golden Gate Park on scooters (apparently that’s not allowed 😬). We ate well and partied hard! And the Warriors won!! 🤩

We’ve decided instead of getting our kids more “things” we’re going to invest in “experiences” and I gotta say…it’s so much better!!

Never fails. EVERY single coaching session I have serves me in some way. Today I got this nugget from a client as we discussed what needed to be eliminated from her life to achieve her goals.

This “elimination” strategy is critical in the goal-setting process, yet too often, well, eliminated.

This was her nutshell insight. “Pull weeds so we can touch grass.” 🔥

**Touching grass is big, if you haven’t heard**

Ask yourself what weeds you need to yank to get to that beautiful grass today 🙌

Been working on my Team Performance Coach Certification and I’m amazed at how well team productivity aligns with personal productivity.

With individuals I focus a lot on clarity. Sustainable movement doesn’t come from motivation. Clarity must come first or those bursts of inspiration will wane.

Let me say this first: If you don’t adore Bob with all your heart, we have beef.

However. I need to challenge his statement here: “If you don’t believe in yourself nobody else is gonna believe.”

For most, there will come a time when you don’t believe in yourself. Having a TEAMMATE who believes in you will hold you in ways you can’t hold yourself.

I love feedback—honest, clear and direct. Yep, even when it stings. Criticism holds a different connotation. It comes from the shadows, often from misunderstanding so it tends to miss the mark.

Criticism can be constructive, no doubt. But it’s almost always productive, if you choose to view it through the right lens.

Ever cheered for the wrong team? It happens. 🤦🏻‍♀️

At a recent ballgame I saw a young girl make the mistake…then I realized it was no mistake at all. Her friend was on the other team and she was showing up in the best way!

If we assume that teammates are identified by affiliation, status, or a certain color jersey, we’ll be constantly disappointed.

How do you feel about this statement?

Maybe He guides, maybe He just allows. Maybe analyzing that disparity misses the point.

Honestly considering this, while uncomfortable, may be just the examination of faith you need.

Think about a baby taking their first steps.
Or newlyweds anticipating perpetual bliss.

This planet is our playing field, and our growth is contingent on failure.

It can be difficult to imagine a loving Heaven that would watch us suffer, struggle, and sink.

But in His perfect Goodness, we find this truth:

“2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna⁠, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.”

So while there are days I complain and days I doubt, today I choose to remember that in my wilderness, He is with me.
